Revisiting Clouds Over the Kuna Crest

As I was going through my archives I came across this one from a few years ago called Clouds Over the Kuna Crest. I’ve always liked it, but I thought I’d re-process it and leave it un-cropped this time. Hope you like them.

  • Moon Over Mt. Clark, Gray Peak and Mt. Starr King

Moon Over Mt. Clark, Gray Peak and Mt. Starr King

As I mentioned on my last entry, Gray Peak and the Moon, I had some issues with my 300mm lens. Once the moon was farther away, I switched to my 70-200 so I could capture Mt. Clark, Gray Peak and Mt. Starr King, and of course the moon.

  • Gray Peak and the Moon

    Gray Peak and the Moon

Nice to see a plan come together. A few years ago I was at Glacier Point at sunset. Unbenounced to me it was also a full moon. If you’d ever tried to photograph the full moon and see some details in the foreground elements, it’s near impossible. That evening it didn’t go so well. Fast-forward […]

Mount Dana and Gibbs in Black in White

Last week as I was on the BACKPACKER Magazine Forum somebody started a “Show Us Your Reflections”. Going through my archives I came across several, including a color version that I posted in 2009, A Day in Yosemite. Thought I’d re-process it and convert it to a black and white.

  • Mammoth Peak with Snow

    Mammoth Peak with Snow

I missed getting up to the high country last year, so when Tioga Pass opened up I made sure I was there. Took me a few weeks to get up there, but thankfully there was still plenty of snow and ice there. My normal plan is to get up around 1am and photograph sunrise and […]

  • Tunnel View in the Morning

My first stop at 2:30 in the morning was Tunnel View. After I made my rounds, I drove back up to Tunnel View to see what I could capture in the morning light.

  • Gates of the Valley

I was hoping for a better sunrise at the “Gates of the Valley”, but that didn’t happen. I stopped again in the afternoon and saw some nice light filtering through the trees under El Capitan. Unfortunately by the time I could get a spot, the light there was gone. I managed to get some decent […]

  • Bridalveil Falls from Tunnel View

Another image from my recent trip to Yosemite. This is Bridalveil Falls from Tunnel View around sunset.

  • More Nighttime Shots

I spent some time around Yosemite Valley photographing different locations while the near full-moon was visible. I captured Half Dome, El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls and Cathedral Rocks from the Merced River.

  • White and Green Trees

While I was photographing El Capitan, Bridalveil Falls and Cathedral Rocks along the Merced River, I spotted some trees. I liked the white and green colors along with the red-ish bark.
